The first Briton to succeed another Briton as Formula 1 World Champion! After all these years struggling down the grid!
From the BBC:
1836: Button takes both hands off the wheel and punches the air in abandoned delight. "Get in there Jenson, well done, awesome job," comes the message from Brawn. The response begins with a song: "We are the champions my friends... Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo. We are world champions. WORLD CHAMPIONS. Woo!"

Pedant alert.
Britons have suceeded Brits in the past.
In 1963 Jim Clark suceeded, Graham Hill, who was in turn suceeded by John Surtees in 64, then Clark again in 65.
In the year of my birth 1969 Jackie Stewart won his first a year after Hill.
What did happen today was the first time an Englishman has suceeded another Englishman.
Great Result and brilliant for British Motorsport in general. I appreciate the fact that Jenson funded his own flights to and from the races and was only given a private jet (ironically Rubens’) after Brazil in order to come back to England and celebrate with the team.http://bit.ly/1WmpXt I hope they get the contract extension signed pronto…
